Chloe's Truth

Tell me about yourself.

Chloe: My name is Chloe and I currently live in Germany, but I am originally from the UK. From a very young age, I felt like I was born to stand out. I never blended in with everyone else. I remember the very first school I went to wasn't a great school academically so I was able to skip a couple of grades. When I moved to the countryside, I was the youngest in my class and one of two black girls in the class. The next black girl joined 2 years later. So of course, we stood out. Now I am studying French and German at university. I lived in France and now I am in Germany because I am teaching English in a primary school. I struggled with mental health during my college study and wanted to find something to release stress so I started my Instagram page. I love my natural hair so much. Anyone who knows me knows I am obsessed with my hair. I express myself through my hair. If people are going to stare, I’m going to look good. I launched my blog on the 1st of January after I gained about 1000 followers. I am not the most consistent but I have been getting good feedback from my followers.

What are your beauty struggles?

Chloe: Because I always felt like I never fit in, I never let beauty standards define me. I don’t care to be confined by what society says a woman should look like. People may not look at me and think I look beautiful, but I am comfortable with who I am. Ironically, my beauty struggle is that people misunderstand my idea of beauty. One week I will wear makeup, the next week I will be bare face. I do what makes me comfortable in my own skin.

What is your favorite beauty product/brand?

Chloe: Bourn Beautiful Naturals is my favorite hair and skin care brand! The Coconut Cream deep conditioner works so well for my hair. I think it’s so important for brands to connect with their community and this brand does that so well.

What makes you feel unstoppable?

Chloe: My mom makes me feel unstoppable. My mom has taught me that there is nothing that stands in my way. She taught me to never be afraid of hard work. When I get into a situation where I have a ton to do, I don’t feel overwhelmed. I feel like my mom prepared me for this. My mom is incredible. When she tells me stories of what she has been through, I know I can do anything.

What is your self-care routine?

Chloe: I am an obsessive planner. So doing absolutely nothing and not being confined to a schedule is self-care. It is so important to not have anything demanding your attention. I usually take Sunday for myself. I go ghost and don’t post or reply to dms over the weekend. I give myself time to unplug. I almost always have my phone on do not disturb because I don’t believe I need to be reachable 24/7.
