Black women deserve health. Yeah, that’s a basic idea. I know. But it’s important to say that when companies who are supposedly improving the quality of our lives are actively destroying them. Production methods and ingredients need to be completely transparent so we know what we’re getting into ahead of time. If not, we’ll be out here using products that don’t align with our values or wishes for our future selves.

Georgette Klinger began her business in the first half of the 20th century, after a pageant prize, cosmetics, agitated her skin. She then moved to New York after her native country was invaded by Germany, and brought her unique blend with her. Klinger began to expand her reach, at the request of others, and set up a shop in California. The skincare expert also began to work on products for men. Until her death in 2004, she made it her mission to give people what they needed to have healthy, vibrant skin.

Of course, I wanted to know if these products were helpful to Black women and Women of Color. So many times, we have been duped into supporting companies that couldn’t care less about us and use beauty items that flat out don’t work. I’ve been using Georgette Klinger’s lavender facial mist, along with the coconut one and I can absolutely say that they work well on my skin. The extracts (coconut/lavender, grape, and green tea) and aloe leaf juice leave my face feeling soft and moist. It’s perfect for rejuvenating the face after a sweat or making sure your makeup feels as fresh as possible. Plus, the dewy look is in. I personally like to use it early in the morning, after I wash my face, and before I moisturize.

The best thing about this product is that it’s affordable, each bottle is only $9 and they are 4.2 oz., which is more than enough considering how little you spritz it on your face. The lavender mist has witch hazel and peppermint in it, meaning that the spray cleanses and cools the skin. It can also be used in aromatherapy, all you’d have to do it spritz it on your pillow. I’m satisfied with the results of Georgette Klinger’s sprays and I encourage you all to try them and give feedback!
